Because of his academic and artistic abilities, Kelly McDonald is Sterling High School’s January student of the month.

McDonald is an SHS senior. He enjoys the Harry Potter books and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is his favorite movie. His hobbies include recording music and racing cars.

McDonald was born on February 14th, 1998 and has one sister, Anna. His father is a physical therapist and his mother is a retired teacher. They have two dogs and “a lot of cats.”

McDonald’s favorite high school memory is when the entire student section at a basketball game sang “happy birthday” to him. His favorite subject is math because it’s logical. His favorite teacher is Mr. Moon, who also teaches his favorite class- autotech. McDonald has a 3.7 GPA and is looking forward to graduating high school and going to college.

He plans to attend Northeastern Junior College for two years, then go to Colorado State University. He wants to major in mechanical or audio engineering. In 10 years, he sees himself working at a car company or on a racing team.

McDonald’s role model is racer, Ayrton Senna. His favorite quote is, “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today,” by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. His personal advice to other students is to, “Chill out and enjoy”, and to not stress about school.

McDonald wants to give Danny Sonnenberg a shoutout because, “He’s always got my back.”
