Special Olympics Team Goes to State

Sterling High School’s very own Special Olympics Basketball team made it to state coming out with a gold medal and a state champion title.

Megan McQuown, one of the advisors for the special needs children, stated, “There were about three to four teams that made it to state. Out of my 12 years of teaching, our team has made it to state 10 times.”

Sophomore CJ Iekel voiced his excitement about the gold medal. “My best me20160312_102948mory from state was shooting a basket and making points.”

McQuown also expressed, “I feel pretty good about their team. It makes them happy so I am happy.”
